What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do (Part 2 of 3)

In our last discussion we talked about the first thing to do when we don’t know what to do is: seek. God calls us to seek FIRST HIS kingdom and righteousness and all things will then be added unto you. There is an underlying current in the Bible of this principle. The principle of “First.” What happens is we get busy doing what it is that we do and we do not keep God first in our lives. The reason why this principle is all through the Bible because God knew that when you keep him as your priority and you allow Him to be your priority first and foremost, in every situation you go into, you go into with the presence of God.

We are called to put God first in our relationship with Him. First in our marriage, in our work, with our finances, in our careers, in our day; in all things put God first. I want to challenge you with this. If there is an area in your life, that you have not put God first, do so. Do it for 90 days and then tell me what happens. Send me an email at and let me know if your relationship God is not the strongest it has ever been.

Okay so now, what is the second thing we must do when we do not know what to do?

Number two is, SHIFT. You have to SHIFT your priorities.

In Genesis 2, God told Adam to enjoy everything in the garden except for one tree. Do not eat of that one tree and you will be fine (Genesis 2:16-17). Then Lucifer comes along and just a few verses later (3:1) tells them, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Do you see the shift? Satan from the very beginning has been trying to get you to shift your way of thinking. Satan understands, if he can shift your thinking, he can shift your priorities.

How do we shift our priorities? Fast. The answer is very simple, you have to grow closer to God then you have ever been. You do this by fasting (Matthew 6:16-17).

Look up and read 2 Chronicles 20:1-6 (focus in on verse 3).

When you SHIFT your priorities, you WILL develop a hunger. When you develop your hunger, you will begin to SEEK God to help you discover just what you need to do to know what to do, when you don’t know what to do.

Stay tuned for one more discussion of this three part lesson to help you know what to do when you don’t know what to do. We have all been there. There is no need to stay there!
