What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do (Part 1 of 3)
Every day we wake up, sometimes in a good mood and sometimes in a not so good mood. Have you ever wondered why you wake up in different moods? Maybe it was because of a discussion that happened the night before or possibly because of your job situation. It could have even just been something you ate the night before. Whatever it is, we all wake up each morning facing the same struggles.
There are areas in our life we want to do something about but we do not know what to do about it. There are areas in which we want to take it to the next level but lack the assurance of knowing if that is what we are suppose to do.
No matter what, we all come through times in our life when we have to be honest with ourselves and admit this… what do I do now, because I am not just not sure what to do.
If you have ever ever thought that, then the next few discussions are going to help you answer that question.
Before we answer the question there are a couple of things you need to understand.
1. In this world, tribulations are going to come. John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Knowing that the Bible tells us that it is going to come, don’t be surprised when it does.
2. Not everyone is going to like you. There is an enemy in this world, named Satan. He is doing his best to destroy you through people, through circumstances, or any means possible. He is seeking to devour you (Genesis 4:7).
If you know those two things are taking place, it will help you understand how you can determine what to do when you don’t know what to do.
First thing you should do when you don’t know what to do;
1. Seek. Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
What happens is many people don’t have a lifestyle of seeking God. When you do not have a lifestyle of seeking God, it seems to be that God is distant from you.
You may be a person that seeks God only when things are going array. That is common among Christians today. They are doing their own thing, not seeking God daily, but when a trial comes up, they are seeking God.
What if you got married to the greatest person in the world and you went on your honey moon together where you spent much of your time together; walking, talking, and enjoying each others company but once you got home from your honeymoon, you only talked to your spouse every few days or maybe only when it was bill time and you are wanting to make sure all your bills got paid. Would you call that a strong relationship? No way. Why? There was not continually communication.
God is the same way. When you come to know Christ, you spend the first part of your day with him but after the honeymoon stage is over, we tend to only seek God when we are in need of something. We don’t have a craving for the Lord until there is an obvious need for something.
What to do when you don’t know what to do… 1. Seek. Seek God first every morning. Seek God first with your money. Seek God first with your time. Seek God first with your relationships. Seek God first in your career. Seek God first in everything you do and then you will begin to find the answers that you need.
This is only part of the equation. Tune in next month to find out what else you can do when you don’t know what to do.
